We are very much in favour of simple, effective and minimalist designs. And this project is an excellent example of how, with careful consideration, you can install high-performance Danish windows that perfectly match your needs.
Looking around the home, it is clear that the owners knew exactly how they wanted to use each window in each room. To achieve maximum cost-effectiveness and the highest-levels of insulation, several of the glass areas are fixed in position. In addition, opening sections and trickle vents are positioned perfectly to allow for ventilation or for where a fire escape may potentially be needed.
The kitchen window offers a lot of choice despite looking like a standard symmetrical item: half of the window can swing open from the side, and the other half is hinged at the top. The customer knew that having either option would be a compromise, so not having to choose and taking both options was the perfect solution.
The slow-grown Nordic pine section of these aluminium-clad timber windows is guaranteed to be knot-free and 90% heartwood, taken right from the centre of the tree. Wood is sanded and top-coated with water-based paint in an electrostatic plant. On the outside, aluminium profiles undergo a nine-step chromatisation process followed by varnishing.
The whole project is installed using Tremco Illbruck’s i3 installation system, which ensures class 4 airtightness of both the window and the installation. Enlightened Windows are factory-trained installers and are a FENSA registered company.
