Using stone mullions to surround windows is a traditional construction method that ensures the weight of a home doesn’t press down upon a glazed window. Due to the shape and depth of these stone surrounds, very few modern replacement windows are able to squeeze into the apertures. Upgrading to high performance, energy efficient windows within these stone mullions is therefore not the easiest task.
