To keep the property in line with the Cotswold-countryside style, thin glazing bars and the Cement Grey colour were applied. The glazing bars have no adverse effect on airtightness, as the glass is not being physically separated. Whilst the colour used (RAL 7033 – Cement Grey) was not standard for the factory, it is highly suited to the product and creates a striking and attractive exterior finish.
For this project, dummy sashes were used in fixed positions. This maintained symmetry and an even frame width around every section. These fake openers increase a fixed pane’s frame to match an opening window and help to create a sense of uniformity throughout.
By default, our doors share the same colour on the opening leaf and the outer frame, but the choice of a lighter cream white surround on this project helps to highlight the design of the unit. With its vertical groove pattern and large square glass cutout, the door sits between the modern and traditional in style – a popular aim for our customers who opt for aluminium-clad timber products.
The slow-grown Nordic pine section of the windows is guaranteed to be knot-free and 90% heartwood which is taken right from the centre of the tree. Wood is sanded and top-coated with water-based paint in an electrostatic plant. On the outside, aluminium profiles undergo a nine-step chromatisation process followed by varnishing.
The whole project is installed using Tremco Illbruck’s i3 installation system, which ensures class 4 airtightness of both the window and the installation. Enlightened Windows are factory-trained installers and are a FENSA registered company.
