A local architect’s project that we’re happy to be a part of. It combines almost every possible product from the STM Tinium range: flush casement windows, a tilt-and-turn window, sliding doors and terrace doors.
Use of Teknos paints and Hoppe handles enables us to make sure each different product looks as though they belong together. Using Teknos especially helps with the certainty of consistent colours throughout. In this case, the ever popular Pebble Grey was decided on as the external frame colour. Hoppe’s stain aluminium handles have more than enough flexibility and security to work with all types of window and door with minimal variation in style.
The combination of false sashes and flush casements creates a situation where almost every trickle vent is hidden from the outside. Background ventilation requirements are being ever more important in the UK’s updated set of building regulations. Since most customers aren’t keen on seeing lots of visible hoods on the outside of an otherwise flat frame, this can be a very important aspect. You’ll see from the photo below, a tilt-turn window sadly cannot fully hide its vent (but we feel the resulting hood is minimally obtrusive).
This project also shows off the effect of these alu-clad timber windows in a range building materials: two variations of timber cladding, Cotswold-style stone and oak beams are all used to great effect.
