Our customer for this project took exceptional care over the choices available and was very design-conscious. Although the exterior displays many of the more popular design choices and an equally popular Cream White colour, the inside colour-coordination tells the real story of the depth of this project. Because of the high attention to detail and requirement for various different design solutions, there really was only one product that could offer all the solutions: STM Tinium.
Interior colours were specifically chosen to work with different areas of the home, so anthracite grey, pure white and an oak stain were all utilised in different rooms. For the first time in the UK, STM’s Danish windows were fitted with black and white versions of the same handles that the factory approved. Since then, this is become a much more common offering.
The tilt-turn combination unit upstairs went through many possible design possibilities. Not just to result in the best appearance, but to also offer the best practicality. The final unit consists of a top-guided window and a double tilt-turn door. The lack of fixed vertical post in the door helps to provide a more uninterrupted view of the surrounding countryside.
Symmetry was also important. Dummy sashes were carefully positioned on double casements so that a fixed section looks identical to an opening section. And this is further helped by the use of hidden hinges on a guided mechanism.
The Sunflex SVG 83 triple track sliding doors are one of the best ways to fill a large opening with lots of glass area, without vertical posts and still offering a conveniently-sized clear opening. A rare choice for aluminium-only products, these doors were dual colour in order to match the aluminium-timber windows. The colour was matched not only to the RAL colour code, but also the gloss level.
The whole project is installed using Tremco Illbruck’s i3 installation system, which ensures class 4 airtightness of the window and the installation. Enlightened Windows are Rationel Trained Installers and are a FENSA registered company.
