This project is really quite special. Typically speaking, properties looking to achieve the New York style industrial look would use steel or thermally-broken aluminium. However, the major downfall of these products is the extremely poor energy efficiency and air tightness.

This new product is a black composite window created by Unik Funkis in Denmark . These windows can stretch the Uw values down to 0.82 and have the best possible airtightness rating of Class 4 .

Meanwhile, their steel counterparts achieve U values of approximately 3 to 4 and suffer from condensation problems on the frames. Even modern thermally-broken aluminium products still have poor values of approximately 2 to 3 if you calculate for smaller frames.

These composite windows have a uniquely-thin 19mm aluminium external glazing bar, and an internal profile of the same width. We believe this is the UK’s smallest composite glazing bar. And I think you will agree, it looks stunning.

Having powder-coated external aluminium, mounted onto a polyamide carrier, then fixed to the timber substructure makes this a true composite window . You can render onto this, point up to this and treat it largely as a normal window. But it has all the advantages of low maintenance associated with composite windows made in Denmark. The timber density of this product is at least 450kg/m³ making it extremely stable. And as it is engineered using finger-jointing, it is also knot free.

The colour both inside and outside is “Jet Black” RAL9005, but other colours can achieve a similar look. For the aluminium exterior, we offer a range of textured black finishes too.

The satin chrome handles really set this product off, and you can choose from a range of finishes. For example, to give the cast iron look, or polished brass.
