This development is really quite special… Typically speaking, properties like this would normally use steel or thermally-broken aluminium to achieve the New York style industrial look. But the major downfall of these products is they have extremely poor energy efficiency and air tightness.
Compare this to the likes of the steel counterparts: they would be achieving U values of approximately 3 to 4 Uw, and suffer from major condensation problems on the frames. Even modern thermally-broken aluminium products, which are used to mimic this effect, still have poor values of approximately 2 to 3 overall Uw if you calculate for smaller frames.
The product uses a uniquely-thin 19mm aluminium external glazing bar, and an internal timber profile of the same width. We believe this is the UK’s smallest composite glazing bar. And I think you will agree, it looks stunning.
Having powder-coated external aluminium, mounted onto a polyamide carrier, then fixed to the timber substructure makes this a true composite window. You can render onto this, point up to this and treat is largely as a normal window. But it has all the advantages of low maintenance associated with composite windows made in Denmark. The high timber density of this product is approximately 450 kg per cubic metre, making the timber stable and, being finger-joint engineered, this is also knot-free.
The colour both inside and outside is “Jet Black” RAL9005, but other colours can achieve a similar look. We also have a range of textured black finishes on offer, which we can apply to the aluminium exterior.
The satin chrome handles really set this product off, and these can also be done in a range of finishes. For example, to give the cast iron look, or a polished brass.
This composite New York style window is unique, and sold exclusively through Enlightened Windows in the UK.
